Default Hello! I joined the guild!

    Exciting!

I have made maps all my life, but only sketches, really. I have made a few digitally in MS Paint, but find myself needing to make more maps because of my writing. I need to know where the characters are, how long it will take them to get to somewhere else, etc. I even make "maps" of their homes and other buildings so I can think about how far their voices would carry and how far it will take to go from room to room or outside and what have you. I am REALLY new here, although I joined three days ago--I haven't really looked around at all, except in this forum to read some of the other welcoming responses to new members, which is cool, so I can start with the different links suggested right away.

I am also making a hand writing font on a font site so that I can use it for my maps and not worry about any restrictions on using someone else's letters, as I want the map to look handmade.

I really am excited to get started and to see what others are doing.

Hi Katterley, Welcome to the Guild. Keep looking around, you will find there are tons of tutorials, plenty of awesome artists that you can draw inspiration from, competitions to help you improve your skills, and of course friendly people. I hope your time here is enjoyable and I look forward to seeing what you create.

    Cheers

Yep, welcome aboard. If you have any questions, please post in the relevant subforum or PM (once you have 5 posts) your prospective sensei. We don't bite. For the most part.

Welcome to the Guild! On the font subject, you may find that emailing the font creator can help with those restrictions. I made a font for "personal use only" and I often give permission for special cases when people email me about it (schools, nonprofits, etc.).
