Also, I've got a new update for you guys! Like I hinted at in my previous post, I started adding other map elements, most notably rivers and lakes. I also toyed a little bit with the coastline to get it to line up a little better with the terrain, and did some teeny tiny changes to the isobaths. These still need a LOT of work, but you gotta start somewhere, right?

Okay, another quick update, this one with regards to the sea floor. I want it to look realistic (but still cool) and at the same time as little distracting as possible. I'm not sure if I succeeded in doing either . Although the latter can be easily attained by lowering the opacity and/or throwing a blanket of spatter on top of it.

Next up is adding a lat/lon grid, and then I can start labelling!

The labelling looks great! Very true to the style, what font is this?

Thanks Kacey! You should know I'm a big nerd when it comes to using the right font. I'm not saying I nail it every time in every one of my maps (far from it), but it's definitely one of the things I spend quite a lot of time on. It just has to look right, you know! So I started trying out fonts that matched the one in my inspiration map, and ultimately discovered that it made use of two fonts... Arial and Times New Roman.

So yeah, that's what I went for! I hate how standard they are, but that's probably the reason why they look so fitting on this map - or at least I hope they do.

    ----------------

In the meantime I managed to get some more work done in the labelling department. I did the countries, the islands and the rivers. The map is slowly starting to feel quite full - I just hope it's not too full just yet!

Okay, so I guess this one is finished! Tons of extra labels added, along with a scale, a minimap, and a vertical scale colour legend thingamagic.

I think it looks great Caenwyr and I like the mini map in the corner as well, do you plan on mapping the other sections or is this part of an even bigger world? I'm struggling right now to pull off this modern atlas style and failing miserably, it's actually allot harder then it looks but you seem to be picking it up pretty quickly... I would be proud if I had made this map, I hope to see you develop this style even more you're definitely on the right track.

You really have captured the style and TAMED topography representation. Well done, mate!

The only minus I see is the actual topography. I know it wasn't a very big concern on this "study", but those lines of mountains are only midly believable - for extra marks on realism (if you care for that sort of think) make them less evenly spread and always with a steeper face and a less inclined side or a sort of plateau.
