It's gorgeous Tom ! The simple elegance of the unique grey tone you used does wonders. The linear is top notch too. Great to have you back !
Hello folks! Long time since my last visit.. but the guild seems more active than ever, I saw a lot of new beautiful maps! that rep. will not spread by itself..
Anyway, I was off due to a big commission (my first tabletop game ) that is still ongoing, but few weeks ago I took a smaller work for a pen and paper project because I wanted to do something different: "the Twin Cities".
In a distant future, on a planet almost covered by clouds, two cities are standing on top of flat mountains (like mt. Roraima) connected by a bridge.
The reference for the city on the right was Coruscant (an imaginary planet in Star Wars universe), while the left one had to be more "environmental-friendly".
I realize just now that I didn't add a waterfall, and I starting to regret it ..D'oh!

Ooh, that just pops out the page. Lovely idea and really nice work!
Beautiful
I envy your ability to draw such lovely things with what is really quite a thick pen/brush!

Wow Tom this is beautiful! Great stuff.
Those buildings are top notch, Tom!
Oh man, that's so great. I need to study your technique here; I really love the look of this. Great perspective, great solid, smooth lines, and I like how you didn't go overboard on the shading. The only thing I'm kind of iffy on are the clouds - if you hadn't said what it was I would've assumed it was a huge forest. Maybe show a tear in the clouds in a couple spots to show faint underlying terrain? But that's a minor nitpick and dang, I love this map!
Hoo-whee, that's gorgeous! I really like it. Especially the bold lineart.
As others have said, great map and good to see you back here. I'm with Diamond a little on the clouds - I also thought it was jungle, an issue that wouldn't exist if you used colour (although I also really like the monochrome look - reminds me of Akae's recent work). And the lineart gives it a really cool and effective cartoony look.
One thing I'm wondering about: if it's all clouds beneath those mountains, how did they build that bridge?
