Posting my map from the Lite Challenge.

I did revert back to my 2nd to last one, the one without the little settlement.

The idea behind the map was pretty simple, a lush, uncharted Island, filled with Danger, which led me to spending a lot of time on the border, etc. The idea was an expedition landed on the Island, all died except 1 man who probably wished he had. When he was discovered years later, he could only ramble on about the horrors he had endured hidden beneath the trees boughs.

It was my first map at such a large scale. And my first to have a compass and scale. Also was the first time I ever used a bump map, and found it quite interesting, not just for the Island formation, but the textures, from the engraving in the border, and the tree layers to the water.

I love the colors. I think it fits the theme you're going for.

Did you use a tutorial for simulating the bumps?
