Welcome, nice to meet you, I use guimp, has heard?
Hello everyone; Ydars Here! I am a complete novice to computer map-making but have been hand drawing maps for years and absolutely love it. I am an avid roleplayer and also really enjoy game design and module writing.
I would really like to gain some paid work making maps and/or designing adventures and so would be very grateful for any feedback anyone has the time to give me. I am in awe of some of the texture manipulation/creation on this site, as I have no idea how to acheive those types of effects.
I have posted an example of my work in the Current Challenges (Jan) section.
I usually use Photoshop CS4 for all my mapping. Generally, I create individual objects and surfaces myself and then put them together to make a huge map, that is usually a local scale outdoor or dungeon map.

Sorry; I have only heard a little about it from reading this forum, but I am very new to all this.
Thanks for stopping by to say Hello though.

As for textures, I cannot recommend Genetica Viewer enough for a large number of semi-random tileable textures of various types(and you can control the size also) for pretty much no money.

I got this from Ydars. He is saying that he is having a hard time posting so I am posting here in lieu of him being able to post...
Ordo Draconis is a new fanzine devoted to Dragon Warriors and a version of OGL D&D (final decision has not yet been made but it will likely be Pathfinder). All adventures will be dual statted. See here for the website: www.draconismag.com
The first issue is up and was free but future issues are likely sold as PDF only at ~$2. This means that in the future, we will have money to pay artists.
So if you like drawing realistic, gritty fantasy art or making detailed fantasy battlemaps, indoor maps and overland campaign maps, then Ordo Draconis needs you.
