Hey there everyone!

My name is Tom. I'm an avid atlas reader, an insane Google Maps user and a long-time paper map scribbler.
I was brought here by my personal research about mapmaking, which led me to Reddit, which led me here.

I'm deeply interested in creating and viewing digital maps of real or fictional worlds.
Since yesterday (yeah I know, I'm that kind of guy), I have bought and downloaded various software that I'm trying to get acquainted to.
I especially love the look of worlds generated with fractal algorithms.

I want to create maps for the sake of it; not to use in roleplaying games or strategy campaigns.
However, as for my scribbled maps, I like to make mental mini-games, inventing scenarios on the spot or imagining new societies that live on my digital maps.

In short, I'm here to see what you are doing and to have a great time with others who share this quirky pastime.

Tom

P.S. Attached are some previews of the first digital planet I'm working on. I use Fractal Terrains and GIMP.
