I joined already 3 weeks ago but have been since so active on reading, Learning and printing tutorials that I totally forgot to present myself.
This oversight must be corrected.

I am a physicist in RL and live in France.
3 weeks ago I have been an absolute newbie in map software and techniques. Actually less than a newbie because I even ignored that such software existed at all.
Then one day I decided to transform one of my hand drawn fantasy world maps in a high quality realistic computer format.
10 minutes of Google landed me randomly in Wilbur which seemed to be exactly what I needed and from Wilbur page I landed here via a link.
Since that time I installed and more or less learned Wilbur, FT3, GIMP2, Autorealm and Fractal mapper.

I found the community here outstanding and got help on all my problems (with the exception of Autorealm - nobody seems to know that software here).
A very special mention to Waldronate - his help and his patience in explaining me some of the finer Wilbur points was incredibly valuable for my Learning curves (and the one for Wilbur is steep).

I expect spending some extended time here because I like the people and I discovered that I liked creating maps with a computer too.
