    Info Building 3D globes

    Hi all,
I have been building museum-quality large world globes for the last 15 years and to date they have all been of our actual planet (I have made several hundred, ranging in size from 24" to 10' in diameter, see giantglobes.com or www.facebook.com/giantglobes for details) I do this as a business, but it is one that consists mainly of myself. I design, bent, weld, sculpt and finish all the materials to make unique works of art for demanding clients in a myriad of areas, schools, churches, corporate signage, memorials etc.
While I like making versions of our own planet it has occurred to me that doing one-off fantastical worlds would be a nice change, hence my foray into this web area. Bear in mind though that they are not cheap, hundreds of hours of painstaking work goes into their construction and I use various industrial subcontractors for water-jet/laser cutting and the like. That said I have never turned down a commission and can build pretty much anything.

Love the detail and craftsmanship that goes into the work I have seen here.
    Yours
Matt Binns, Giant Globes Inc, Chicago.
