    Map Manigae

    Hello!

    Manigae14.jpg

    Island description:
Manigae is a volcanic island formed by 6 volcanoes. As volcanoes eroded, space between them was filled with debris and became flat.
I attempted map scale to be realistic, volcano height is in the range of 3-4km. Island is in temperate climate zone, with weather comparable to Great Britain, and Germany. Mountains serve as a natural barrier to cold air in North. North part of island has spruce trees, middle part has different leaf trees.

Map style is ink on parchment, something that an actual traveler or cartographer could have created.

During the process of making this map I learned a ton.
Photoshop (Creating brushes, scanning hand-drawn images, image displacement technique, texture creation, layer management, masks etc.)
Geography (landmass formation, volcanoes, volcanic islands, realistic water flow, height maps etc.)

I had a bunch of mistakes during the process. I was working step by step, posting my progress and waiting for feedback.
Map is not perfect, far from it. But for my first serious effort, I am satisfied All other maps I've done have taken a maximum of few hours, and are a result of me following some tutorial or simply experimenting.
I planned to work on it some more, run out of time, decided to post it in it's current state.

    About the map:

Special thanks go to waldronate, he was very patient with me, kept posting feedback and answering my questions

    Inspiration:
I did not try to copy any map completely, but some served as inspiration and had some details I tried to mimic:
[CG Choice Map] Imperial Worldmap of Arden
    Ystraad - by Bohunk
    Avani - by Wag

    Credits:
    Compass brush by fuzzimo.com
    Cartography brushes by Eragon2589
    Cimbrian font

I also used a ton of turials on this site, too many to list them all

That's about it! I enjoyed the process. Map will be used for a web game I am working on.

Got any feedback, please post it below Any more information I need to add, let me know.

    Regards,
    Ingus.
