Hello,

This is a forum that caught my interest a while back, but I was too caught up in work and other things to be able to participate. Now, I'm able to take the time. I'm a big fan of maps and I work with software development teams that develop geospatial software. We focus more on analysis than cartography, so I can't say this is a strength of mine. But did I mention I love maps?

My background is in geospatial software like QGIS, PostGIS, GeoServer, and other open source software. I cut my teeth as an analyst using ArcGIS Desktop and Imagery analysis software. I've made some contributions to OpenStreeMap as well. I see that Inkscape is one of the favored packages and so I'll start working with that to get up to speed.

One of my favorite parts of role playing games when I was a kid was in drawing out my own maps with graph and hex paper. I'm hoping, this is an opportunity for me to combine that enjoyment with the technology I've learned over the years. I'm looking forward to learning a lot here.

Cheers,

Scott
