Yup, Howdy is my version of "Hello World".

Greetings all. I am a hobbiest writer and, more importantly, returning table top gamer. I played TT games in the early 80's and played for years. Of course college, career, marriage, kids...etc, etc. Well, the kids are older now and I took up TT games again - okay, actually VTT. It hasn't taken long for the old DM in me to want to start creating my own content. I've played with Blender, Sketchup, GIMP, and Inkscape for years. I am okay when dealing with straight lines, simple curves, and CAD like thinking. However, when it comes to real art skills (the kind needed to make decent looking game assets), I find my artistic knowledge as well as application knowledge...lacking.

As I said, I hobby write and I also do quite a bit of scratch cooking. What I know from both disciplines is that they are part skill and part talent. I do not delude myself. I know I can learn and excel in the skills department, but will always lack in the talent department. Still, my ceiling should be more than high enough to get me the quality I need for my hobby. My goal isn't professional grade.

So, here I am. Consider me a total art noob and don't assume I know the difference between an alpha channel and a purple bananna. Be kind. Feed the animal and watch him learn. Laugh with him as he goes sprinting through this thick forest blindfold tightly wrapped. I truly appreciate all the helps even before you give 'em.

Thanks.

Steve
