Hi,

My name is AJ. I'm an aspiring map maker. I'm a big fan of table-top gaming, and am in the process of learning to make maps for a game of my own I'm designing. As a DM for my local group, I'm a big fan of drawing the maps I'll eventually run my players through. Cursed with a slight case of OCD, it doesn't take much to turn a map I'm really proud of, into something I'd rather erase completely and start from scratch. I'm hoping here I can learn some tricks of the trade to help not only learn the basics, but also help raise my confidence in the stuff I'm making.

I'm a big fan of over the top perspective (e.g. Mike Schley, Dyson Dungeons, 2minutetabletop.com, etc.) and am hoping to hone my skills towards that art direction. I'm most comfortable with pen and paper, but have recently started learning Adobe Illustrator and Gimp, using a Wacom tablet. For my local D&D group, I've got two Chessex Maps which I'll dress with handmade foam scenery. I'd post pictures, but am not sure if that is a little too far off topic.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to being a member of this community. Thank you in advance for your help and advice.
