15 feet thick seems fine if I compare it with real medieval walled cities like Carcassonne. Definitely in stone for the outer and inner walls. Other areas outside the main city could have wooden palisade around them tough.

Thats what I thought. I guess trees are going to be a bit scarce in this desert like terrain. So I doubt they could even muster enough for a pallisade. In fact its reminded me that the style of building may be dictated from the availability or lack thereof from materials like wood.
