Greetings,

My name is Chuck Ruggiero and I am from northern New York State. I work and teach at Jefferson Community College, part of the State University of New York system of colleges and universities. My specialty is emergency management and public safety. Pursuant to the requirements of those areas of specialization, I have incorporated an HO-scale model city into a "learning laboratory" on the campus.

In order to train students effectively on this very large 3D model, I need to generate maps which can be used in PowerPoint lesson plans. I would be most appreciative of any information or support from members of the guild regarding the process of map making. Map making has suddenly become an important part of my planning and teaching responsibilities.

I welcome suggestions on software programs, map making theory, and 3D drawing for mapping purposes. Any advice you might have to offer would be best sent to my email address: cruggiero@sunyjefferson.edu. Please be sure to use the word "cartography" in the title of your email; I will set the spam filter to automatically accept mail with "cartography" in the title.

Thank you for any information you might be able to send my way!

Respectfully,

Chuck Ruggiero, Education Coordinator
