Discuss Map an area in a Desert!

Throwing this one in for future ideas.

    Option 1

Map a sandy desert with dunes and hidden secrets beneath the sands. It can be a fantasy desert or a sci-fi one with giant creatures living beneath the sands. It can be a map around one big dune with a desert town use to the rolling sand storms or a fort armed to keep out intruders that wish to unlock mysteries better left untouched in a rock and sand waste or a seemingly peaceful oasis. It can be two villages that are at war with each other over the rare watering holes. Or an Oasis.
Or map a whole region in a desert with points of interest.

    Option 2

FROZEN DESERT map! To make things more interesting.

The windswept ice leads to abandoned ruins, covered in snow. The silence of its walls is just broken by the deathly eerie keen of the howling air. A band of explorers or adventures brave the unknown, but ancient creatures has made their home in those cold and silent stones.
Or a long forgotten structure promises a gateway to another place.
Or a town that has gone out of their way to build their lives in the frozen wastes, but with only few brave enough to discover the rich history the reaches provides.

Both can be options in one challenge. Should make the entries fun.
