Not sure how useful this is to anybody else, but since it's something I've wanted to make for a while, I figured I'd share it once it was done.

Frustrated with how many hexmaps in RPGs don't conform to a globe (the arctic regions ignoring Tissot-style distortions), I imagined a hex map that had the distortions built in. Where an icosahedral map leaves big gaps between areas in the temperate zone, fer instance, this would stretch everything together.

I spent many months trying to make something like that until I discovered that The Astrographer had already done something to the same effect several years back. My eyes glazed over when he started getting technical so I just wound up tracing the map he sketched out, but ultimately he gets 100% of the credit for this layout.
