Hello to all you fellow mapmakers and map-lovers!

I have always loved maps, and taken great joy in making them, whether they were little hand-drawn things, battlegrounds made for classic Starcraft, or recreations of real maps that I wanted for myself. However, I began writing fiction a couple years ago, and to go with that, I started taking a real interest in the nitty-gritty details of doing proper cartography. To that end I started learning how to use GIMP and began downloading an unholy amount of images from the DEMIS map server, putting things together as best I could.

As of now, most of my work has been on creating good maps of parts of the real world, usually with more "artsy" feel to them than what you can find online, while also having loads of info. My current project is with the crazy fellow Cookiegod, and he and I are trying to construct an unreasonably large map stretching from Iceland to western India. Since this project is so behemoth in its proportions, he thought it would be worth our while to join the ranks here and fish for suggestions, see what other people are up to, and just generally get all up in this great community!

P.s. If anyone wants to have a look at some of my previous mapping works, I have them posted on another forum here!
