Thats what I'm working on right now. Still need to add in the rivers and make the ocean look all awesome, but so far its not bad for a first try.

Woo ok so I'm deciding I'm done with this map. Did some stuff with the ocean, cropped the map, stuff like that.
As good as it gets: http://raejekii.deviantart.com/art/C...shed-155287894
Bloody hell this thing took a long time to save....never again making a map on that scale. No point XD. One to four sheets of paper is fine XD
Did you uncheck the "maximize compability"? If you do it will save faster.

That's a good tip - thanks Carnifex
That's a good map - nice colour choices and a good use of the style. You probably don't need to upload the full ~56 Mpx image though - no one can really view that on a web browser. It might be worth downsizing it by 33%. That way when people view it on the screen they'll be viewing it at roughly print scale (92dpi screen/300dpi print ~33%). You'll avoid maxing out the viewer's RAM and caning their computer too...
lol actually thats not the full size on my deviant art. It has been reduced by about 30% XD
In which case I'd agree - you probably don't need to work at that resolution. I'm amazed PS handled it at all. What computer are you running?
A rather wicked awesome mac at the college I'm going to.
Ah, that would probably do it. I find that PS starts complaining at around 75 Mpx with more than 5 or 6 layers even with 4Gb ram (though I am using 32 bit PS so that's less of an issue).
