I really like the special effects euio, great overal look and composition. However, with all the specials it's a little hard to read the text/details now, making it hard to understand what the map is about. maybe you can make the text/linework a little more readable (maybe ease on opacity or something...) cheers!

I like the look you have going on as well. I agree with Dj regarding the print being a bit hard to make out. Maybe too much shadows going on? I can't determine where the light source is. It sort of looks like it's illuminated by moonlight underneath a skylight or something which would be real hard to read anyway. Either way congrats on your new tablet I'm sure you will be pounding out more and more fantastic stuff all the time now.

    Okay, how's this:

EDIT: Thinking about adding in woodgrain.

I think that is more clear. I can read it now. It's like looking at some pages from the journal of the first explorer there.

    I guess I'm done, then.

Unless anybody has any more suggestions.

Have you tried putting like a wood grain behind the book so it looks like it's sitting on a table? It sounds easy enough to do but then you know how that goes

I originally didn't put any in because I didn't want to distract from the actual map any more, but I think it looks pretty good:

EDIT: Fixed the shadows a bit.

Yeah I think that adds more character than just the black.

To me this looks like the notes a spy might take for his King prior to planning an invasion. I'm always looking of stories I guess.
