    Default Altitude Map

So I was bored and decided to make a map similar to this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ph...of_Romania.jpg.
Hyopria is very much based on the Balkans in general and so I wanted to use a map of an actual Balkans country as a basis. I also split it up into some provinces. Hyopria is quite rural for most of its extent and only seriously urbanized on the coastlines, so borders tend to be very crude.
The first name for some of the stuff in the north is the official, Hyoprian name. The second name in () is the native name, as those two areas are not ethnically Hyoprian but rather Camutian and Navearian. Another thing to note: ţ = ts or zz and ş = sh.

    Looking good!
One critic: The borderlines are a bit too straight.

Alright, so I was looking at other maps and I didn't like how few rivers there were. So I added some. As a result: Here's the two new maps.

I'm not sure about the rivers but it's pretty hard to change it.

You have an ugly forking river around Rosfat. Just a warning before the river police knocks at your door...

Alright. I've been encountering serious technical difficulties and the file is becoming bloated and ugly from all this work - like plastic surgery. I'm going to call this part of this map uncompleted and canned.

However, I have been looking into making an atlas in the style of National Geographic and a2area. This seems easier from a production perspective, considering I had a lot of fun and it wasn't particularly hard to make this terrain map. I've also found that it might be better to make each island separately so as to avoid some of the design problems I've been having (corruption of the height maps).

I'll post an idea of what my main island will look like soon.

Alright. So I made some stylistic changes to the map which makes it more realistic, and also changed the design.

Now comes the decision whether to take the line art into Illustrator or take rivers and geographic elements from Illustrator into photoshop.
Anyone knowledgable about these things care to give an opinion on the matter?

Alright, finished the height map and the preliminary Photoshop work. Now into illustrator.
