Wow, that is an amazing map. How were you able to accomplish that in 12 hours? It truly looks like it was taken from a satellite!
Hi,
Here's my most recent finished map. And a detail of it, with frontiers of Hyrule's Kingdom.
100% Photoshop, about 12 hours of work.
Original size: 7677*5906px (= 65*50 cm, 300 dpi)
If someone wants to know how I proceeded, a tutorial is available (in french only).
Zoom in
And the map of Hyrule.
EDIT Now the complete map is on a more interesting size.

Wow, tanks^^ (Gallifrey? I like that.^^)
Actually, my technique to make it is very simple. The most important is texturing the lands with many images and melt the layers to obtain an optimal result.
A 1024*768px map could be finished in 2 or 3 hours, at the only condition the creator knows what he/she wants to do.
You're welcome!
My username is taken from the TV show, Doctor Who. The main character, The Doctor is an alien (but he looks like a human -- or according to him, we look like his race ) His home planet is Gallifrey and his race is "Time Lord", AKA Gallifreyan. I am a big fan of the show.
I know about Doctor Who. One of my favourite fictions.

@BreadCrab: thanks!

I'm interested in the colors, I'm always striving to get all of those little color variations in. So you are using real satellite images with some blending?

Very nice, have some rep!

Those maps look really good. Is there any chance that you will translate the tutorial to english?
That's great! I've always wanted to make pretty volcanoes, but mine always seemed as if they were made by a fifth-grader (and not even a particularly talented fifth-grader).
For the first time in years I'm actually glad I had 5 years of French in school The only thing that might be difficult for me are the PS tags. For example: what are the English counterparts of blending options such as "incrustation" "teinte" "produit" etc. ?
Now that the warm fuzzy part is over we can get back to the ritual dismemberments. Oh wait, it's not Tuesday is it?
