Howdy All,

Does anyone know of a good website/book/resource that has tutorials for creating fantasy-style weapons (medieval type stuff), using GIMP?

One of the best advice I can give if you want your stuff to look realistic is to just get reference photos through Google Images. Take those and import them as a layer in GIMP and create a new layer to trace and color over them. This is not meant to just copy something, but to train your eye what to look for and to pay special attention to shading and contrasts of objects. Metal unless tarnish will normally reflect it's environment, wood normally has grains, for leather texture is important, etc.

More general advice is to look at the images of weapons and find the basic shapes and detail down from there.
