Really great stuff! I didn't follow the WIP and the map is quite self-explanatory, but I think a small legend is usual when using different types of terrain and travel routes. Have thought about that?

Technical question: In a couple of places (Deconshire, e.g.) you have text along a concave path. Whenever I try to do this, Illustrator insists on placing the text on the convex face of the path. Is there something I'm missing?
EDIT: Wait, now it's doing the opposite. Clearly I don't know which end is up with this "text on a path" tool. In any case, I can now rotate the text to where I want it, but I wish I knew how to make it do what I want in the first place.

If you click and hold the text, you should be able to drag it to whichever side of the path you want it to display on
edit:
to be more precise, in the help files i found the following-
To flip the direction of text along a path, drag the bracket across the path. Alternatively, choose Type > Type On A Path > Type On A Path Options, select Flip, and click OK.
(by bracket it means the line you see poking up out of the middle of the path when you have the text selected)
