    I would suggest doing a displacement map(perhaps followed with a bit of blur) on the ocean/land outlines. They look way to regular. Especially the island under the coiled serpent.

    Here is my updated version... still no cities or place names, but I think I have it suitably old and salt-water stained.

    Thanks! I thought it worked well.. though i did write up the backstory before i did the map heh.

    I can't read it as well as I'd like...but that is probably true to (your) task, considering the type of map it is.

    Yeah, my wife is going to use the previous map that is cleaner for her stuff, but give the above map to the players to keep it more in theme. Though I might lighten up the background and whatnot to make it easier to read.

    Here's an update, with tentative towns and cities. The green tribal icons are elven settlements, the mine openings are dwarven, and the rest are human. Black are independents, while the three colors are those who are engaging in war against one another for control of the trade route to the elven people.
