    Map Nivarija

This one was a monster to do. The original file is 15300 x 12900 pixels at 300 dpi. During the creation process I was several times forced to merge layers, because I surpassed Photoshop's file size limit of 2 GB when I tried saving. I have a PC which is eight month old and even this one had hard to work on this.

    Done in PS.

Very impressive! Is all that yellowish-brown land supposed to be desert?

Nicely done, Sapiento - love the mountains, I've been trying to get something similar to that look for a while but haven't quite managed.

    The yellow is desert, yes.

The size was necessary as certain parts of the map are extremely detailed (during drawing it came down to a few pixels sometimes).

The technique is similar to Pasis' moutains technique.

Sapiento - For future reference, Photoshop has a special file format for XL images: I believe it is the .psb file type, or "Photoshop Large Document Format." It takes that 2GB cap off and keeps everything separated out like a .psd.

    Thank you, RE.
Yes, it's the .psb file format. I got a hint to this yesterday on my dA site. Maybe I should have done some research if 2 GB is really the limit.
