Printing large Maps

I've seen some photos of large printed maps on this site and was wondering what people are doing to print their large maps? I'm wanting to do a map of my fantasy world at about 48" x 36"

I've looked at Kinkos and I'm not sure I want to pay around $100 (not completely out of the question, just not preferred.)

If someone has a tutorial that would be great, thanks for your help.

Ideally she'd print it at 100" x 60" or larger (not including a border) to get all the detail out of it. What sort of options does she have for that large size? What type of cost might she expect?

edit: I think it actually belongs as high-quality wallpaper at 2x that size to not need a magnifying glass to fully appreciate. And it is vector, so quality should scale....

if you own a printer, glue and patience, you may give Posteriza a try. if you dislike this software, there are many other on the internet doing similar job. oh... did I mention glue ? and patience ?

Along with the glue and patience, I've always found that simple posterboard makes it alot easier to assemble the maps after they're printed and cut.
