Welcome to the Guild. Sounds like a great project
Hello.
I am interested generally in the Renaissance, including the extensive development in mapmaking that then took place.
In particular, I am interested in how they then designed and made maps; since I find them to be attractive prints.
I would like to learn how, with Photoshop, Illustrator, or Gimp, to create similar style maps - say of my home town or county.

Welcome to the Cartographers Guild.
I saw a tv show about maps, once, on History International channel and some of those old maps get thousands of dollars. Our tutorial section has some things that you can follow but, in the end, you'll have to play around a lot to get the exact look you're going for.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

Welcome to the Guild! I've been doing some similar work lately; you may be well served by a Google search on Nicholas de Fer, which will also lead you to many of his contemporaries (early 18th century). Good luck!
