Howdy and welcome.
I have always loved maps but have never really done anything about it.
But I would like to make the time to do some mapping. Love Lord of the Rings, etc.
No doubt everyone knows of this already, but I read a book about world making which rekindled the interest.
The book is The Planet Construction Kit by Mark Rosenfelder (entertaining read) and among other things talks about map making.
Glad I found the site :-)

Howdy and welcome.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

Welcome to the Machine... The book looks interesting. And not a bad price on Amazon for a 372 page book.
Thank you all
Yes, I liked the book. Touches on most areas to do with fantasy worlds. E.g. History, culture, war, religion biology etc.
As far as the physical world, he does talk about, for example, deciding on where your tectonic plates are before deciding on where mountain ranges go as well as a chapter on mapmaking.
Thank you all again for the welcome.
