Dude, that's so cool. I love Victorian houses - did you look at some references or just make them up as you went along?
This was created as an endsheet map for Scholastic's middle-grade mystery novel "The Mastermind Plot", an upcoming sequel to "The Midnight Tunnel", by Angie Frazier. The setting is a fictional neighborhood in Boston around 1900.
For most of my literary maps, I've been developing an inking style reminiscent of golden age pen and ink interior illustration.
Hope you like.

That's pretty cool, I like it too. It kind of lets your mind fill in some of the bits.

Thanks! I actually looked up a ton of old photo's taken in 19th century Boston for architectural details. All the buildings are inspired more or less by warehouses, homes, and other business actually located in or near the city. Historical society archives have a wealth of information to discover.
Really beautiful and it's just like cool maps I remember from books in my childhood.
Nicely done..

A possible detail here for this sort of map. MA as an abbreviation is a postal code that began in 1963. Most likely historical maps would have the Mass. abbreviation or spell it out. A very cool map!
Very cool stuff Schley!

I wish I could do handdrawn stuff like that. Well done!
