Welcome Aboard!
Hey all
Have just picked up in interest in designing world and dungeon maps for my online maptools game and stumbled across this gem of a website.
Thought i'd say hi and ask a question (which may be better directed in another topic?)
Im keen on making world and region maps for a 1940's WWII era setting for Savage Worlds.
Was wondering if anyone could suggest a tutorial, effects or programs best served to create this look.
Many thanks,
Sando

Should probably mention ive got Campaign Cartographer, Fractal Terrains and Good ol' Photoshop at my disposal haha
Hi Sando, your best best would be to find examples of the style that you're looking for and post them up here - we can then help you achieve the look that you want.
I spose thats a good start
I guess something in the vein of Ascension's map

Something out of Indiana Jones
I'd suggest starting with FT - if you want to map real world locations then use the real world DEM data which comes with the program as an extra or download it from the USGS website. If you are making a fantasy world then find a good FT world to use and edit it. Perhaps use a black and white lighting scheme (land white), with the relief shading. You can then bring that into photoshop and just drop some layer effects on it....attached is a start.

Okay, Ravells, will have a look into that.. did you just whip that one up then?
Will try a few tutorials and see what I can pick up from there
Also, Thanks Steel and Neon for the warm welcome!
Hi Sando, yes, it was just an FT world map with some colour overlay and a quick graticule.
Cool! well.. I dabbled, and tried some stuff in Photoshop.. Its pretty low-res, so excuse that side of it. Didnt know where else to post this kind of stuff for feedback, or rather, if it's worthy.
Any feeback would be great..
