This is Southpoint, a city in the southern part of Armadien. It used to be a free city with close connections to Ankh-Bathor further south. But the King of Armadien couldn't accept it's freedom (well he obviously wanted part of the money). After some short battles and long negotiations Southpoint agreed to be a part of the Armadien kingdom and pays a yearly tax from it's vast trading income. A lot of very influential people in the city (mainly traders) don't like this and want there freedom back. With support from Ankh-Bathor they are plotting against the king. Unfortunately some are also looking for help in the shadows and nightmares where seldom good deals are done.
The map is done in CD3 from profantasy, and edited in photoshop (mainly colours and painting effects).

That is nice. Love the muted colors.
Those cobwebs in the corners are very ominous.
Fun that I should find this map on Google+ first - consider yourself repped

Nicely done! The colors look great and I love the cobweb borders motif. Good stuff Clercon.

I dig the swirls in the fields, that part is sweet. Good colors, good lines, very nice, dude. Think I'll snag me a copy.

Very cool, Clercon. I did spot something that looks odd, though: the shadows of the towers along the wall seem to indicate the sun is in the east/southeast, while the shadow of the hill by the lake makes it seem as though the sun is in the west/northwest. Not a huge deal though; altogether a great map.
Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm actually very pleased with the result myself, especially the fields. Well the pleased thing lasted until Diamond spotted my total f**k up with the shadows on the hills ;-) Just kidding, thanks for spotting it and here is an updated image with the shadowing corrected.
The cobweb borders btw are from a brush I found somewhere on the internet. Don't remember where and by whom though. But I really like them.

I was thinking about this city yesterday. How many people would you estimate that it lives in it? Does 15.000 sound completely off the wall or maybe spot on? What do you think?

count the number of houses, mulitiply with number of families living there and then mulitiply with 4 (just a guestimate) so simulate something between single people/married couples/families. Maybe a higher number for some parts of the city. Remember the countryside and barracks and stuff, and apprentices living with their Masters, live-in servants for the rich, boarding schools etc.
