Making city maps with CC3
I have seen mention of maps made using CC3. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to go about doing this. I should also mention that I fairly new at using CC3, while I understand how to make a world map fairly well I have problems with smaller details. Perhaps this is why I can't figure out how to make a city? Anyway, I was hoping someone on this forum could help me out or direct me to where I can figure this out!

These are all cities done with CC3 only.
To emulate the style, you could drawn simple white polygons, and then outline those polygons in black, then place the BLACK out line on a separate sheet, and change line thickness to get a thicker line.

Hmm alright going to have to try that. Looks a tad difficult though! I may just fall in and get a copy of CD3 when I get back to the States.
i've been debating the use of adobe illustrator for my city design needs, i'm playing around with the capabilities of the brushes and strokes (specifically patter or border brushes, perfect for trails, walls (with towers included) and even possibly random building streets... i haven't completely explored the capabilities.. while obviously more expensive then profantasy, its an option for those whom may already have it.

This village map is done using DD3 and the sheet effects for CC3, together with the CC3 compatibility add-on for City Designer

i'm curious as to how you used dd3 in that map

I think I used a DD3 template as a base for the map.
The hills are just bitmap filled smooth polys, with a blur effect added to the layer.
The ground background has also had the blur effect applied.
The roads are paths. With edge fade, edge fade inner and texturise effects added to the layer.
I've added the buildings from the CC2 compatibility plug-in and added a slight drop shadow effect.
The labels have had a glow effect added to the layer.
