Wip April 2013 Challenge Entry: Lorgan

I'll use the forth map as base for this; I'm planning to do a more painterly style.

Some progress on the map. Now I have to think how to fill the relatively empty space where the marshes are (is this allowed for the challenge?).

Really nice mountains and forests but Im less convicted by the icy thing. For the forests it is just some blur you applied on them?

    I agree, awesome mountains!
Maybe they're a bit huge. Or at least i was looking at the map with a different scale in mind

    Thanks.
I will have to work on the glaciers. I used the clone stamp tool for the forest - maybe a stronger stroke could define the single elements better.

I had only a rather small region in mind, a few dozen kilometers wide.

I think the forests are nice I like this little " blurry" touch on them.

Unfortunately your scale is sort of mandated by the fact that you have discrete mountain ranges. It can't realistically be less than several hundred KM.

Yeah, I kind of have to agree with that...

The size of the land wasn't very important for me when I started to sketch the map elements, so let it be a few hundred km.

A first idea for city icons added.

Nice, looks like it's very consistent with the map
