    Default WIP - Rocix

What´s up guys! After some time away from making maps, I´ll try to return to the routine. Roncix is a land based in the celtic culture, and also with a strong Gaulese influence too. For the first time I´m venturing with custom mountain brushes, instead of the top down I normally do. For the forests I´m using the excellent brushes made by StarRaven Sketchy Cartography Brushes by ~StarRaven on deviantART

What you guys think so far? Critics are very welcome, since it´s my first time trying this style of map, with more hand draw elements and also more ornaments!

Pretty nice job here with nice mountains. Some comments though :
    - The compass looks a bit odd since you scaled down three arrows and so it doesn't look consistent in the oultines with the north arrow.
    - It seems you have many rivers that have sources in low lands
    - Some rhumblines overlap the landmass and need to be erased :p

Those mountains are outstanding; did you draw them?

    I like it!

Like Max I wondered at the river sources; I know there's that big marsh in the center of the island. Shouldn't that river system that flows west out of it instead head east or south, where it doesn't have to go through/over the (presumably) higher mountains?

Nice choice of fonts and good colors. I like the compass as-is.

Also, is there a typo in the title? Is it Rocix or Roncix?

Thank you for the advice in rivers guys! I will try to work it out!
Diamond, yes I drew then all, not using any brush, I think it gives each one a distinct look. About the rivers, I have some questions, do you guys have any guides or tutorials about river systems? Sometimes i feel a bit lost haha
And yes, the name is Rocix! Didn´t see it

Hmm, have you tried this thread about rivers? -> How to get your rivers in the right place

Good job on those mountains, but special point to the mountain+forest placing, it really gives the map a amazing look so far. Although I think the map border/frame shouldn't cross over each other like its happening on your map (at the corners), maybe you could try some "changing direction" area from the verticals to the horizontals. I hope you can understand what I mean, I didn't know how to explain that well .

I think this shows a lot of promise. Other issues have already been identified, but one further suggestion would be to unify the Celtic knot work you are using along the boarder, but joining together the knots in the corners. This may require a bit of work but I think it is warranted if you seek to achieve an authentic looking Celtic map.

    Cheers,

As all the issues have already been pointed out, I'll simply say beautiful Looking forward to seeing more.

Hey guys thank you for the tips and comments! It´s really encouraging to know that my mountains are nice! So for this next update, I changed the border, but this was before arsheesh comment, maybe I´ll try to do something more connected with dots and stuff. I change the colors too, as I noticed, the colors were a bit strange, the landmass was darker the water, so I inverted and I think it looks better know. In the far east island, I tried a knew type of mountains, and I like them.

Now, that's a lot of trees heh?

It's turning into a very good map, the borders are much better now.
I'm curious on what is the Farernpek, is that a mountain?
