Welcome NET, looks nice but can you uplaod a bigger size pic?
Though I've been playing around with cartography for many years through my love of RPGs, I'm a newcomer to the Cartographer's Guild. I've been using Photoshop and Illustrator professionally in my capacity as a graphic designer but this is the first time I've used it for a large scale continental map. I found Pasi's tutorial and thought I'd try out the methods described for setting textures and using the pattern stamp and I was delighted with the results.
This is still a work in progress, but I'd be keen to get feedback on the style and general comments. In terms of scale and detail, I haven't decided exactly what the scale is yet. The file is set up as an A3 landscape image (@300 dpi in case I decide to print it), so there's plenty of room. I'm planning to convert it to a vector in Illustrator then add the detail (nations names, settlements, etc) there along with a decorative border and legend.
Thanks

That looks really gorgeous, what I can see of it. Definitely would like to see a bigger image.
I would also love to see a larger image. This is really very good. Welcome to the Guild and have some rep for a great 2nd post.

Very nice, especially for a first map! Welcome to the Guild N.E.T.!

Thanks all, really great to get some positive feedback - here's a much larger version.
More than great for a first try!
Wow, I love that. The bevel or emboss that you've got around the coasts really make it pop without seeming to 'float' above the ocean. Colors and textures are fantastic.
Just great work; have some rep!
