This is amazing, especialy considering you made it in Paint!
As announced in an other topic, my first map, albeit infinished, has been made in Paint. I haven't mentioned the names of the peoples, countries and so on on the map, because typing in Paint is a bit messy in my opinion. But I will give a quick overview:
In the year 3915 NE...
Green nations : The Irito-Moranian peoples
North : the Slasvanian chieftains
East : the succesor states of the Šavrinian Empire
Centre : the Damarian kingdoms and city states
Islands : the Iritolian Archipelago Kingdoms
South-West : Irdonian kingdoms and the Western Teolian Empire
West : Teolian empires and kingdoms
Purple nations : The Asmodanian Peoples
North : Asmodian nomads and the Turvak Ludorak (Invisible Empire)
South : Envonari nomads
Red Nations : Cardan Nomads
East : Cardan coast kingdoms and inland chieftains
Centre : Lassaran cities and towns
West : Trakonaj nomads and hunter-gatherers
Yellow nations
North and Islands : Pahadan Island kingdoms and chieftains
South-East : Wusun kingdoms
West : Kandai city states
Light Blue
Amondinian Empire
Northern Territories
Scattered farmers and nomads, mostly Cardan, Mirhindön, and Dusan
Grey Territory
These territories aren't owned by a nation. The density of people is low and there is no interest in conquering these territories.
Black Areas
Mountains. Areas are only owned for strategics source fortresses.

What's great is that you'll be able to use that map as a base map for working on it on Photoshop or Gimp if you ever decide to !
Yuppers, A decent looking map done in Paint no less is worth a touch of rep if you ask me. Well done and am waiting to see where this goes.

Thanks for the encouragements !
I have a problem with GIMP. I've found the tutorial, but I have two problems.
1) Whatever I try, I cannot open the pallete for the mapmaking tutorial.
2) Can I change the language settings? I downloaded GIMP in Dutch, but as the guide is written in English, it would help if I could change the language to English.

in gimp go to Edit-> Preferences-> Interface, and change the language drop-down to whatever you want. Restart Gimp to see the change.

Thanks, but what do I have to do to open the pallete?
Look for the Palettes tab, double click on a palette to open it and click on the desired color, if you don't have that tab add it to the toolbox:
snapshot1.png
adding a tab step one (although you can see palettes is already added)
snapshot2.png
here i would select whichever tab i wanted to add.
These screenies are from my linux box, there adding palettes, bruches etc. to their respective folders is done in: /usr/share/gimp/2.0/
in Win8 (64bit gimp) its: C:\Users\username\gimp-2.8\
in WinXP its C:\Documents and Settings\username\.gimp-2.8\
