Default Lacertus and the New World – commission

This is my second map for the writer Kassim Massop. It shows his world twenty years after the first (http://www.cartographersguild.com/fi...map-novel.html); the two landmasses have been joined together (don't ask me how ) and a new continent has been discovered. I made it very similar to the first but took the chance to improve some things – the fuzzy border is sharper in this one as Arsheesh and Max adviced, I changed the font to something cleaner, added a simple cartouche, and drew the rhumb lines digitally using a technique posted by Midgardsormr here: http://www.cartographersguild.com/ma...v-lines-2.html.

I've quite grown to like this style while painting these. It's very simple of course, but it's fun to use. I think I'll try to develop it a bit more in some future maps.

That's a great-looking map. The style is clean, and the rhumb lines make a great addition. It suggests an age of navigation and discovery. I like the font, too. Which font did you use?

    Well done!

Thanks, Coriolis! That discovery-feeling was what I was trying to achieve, so that's very nice to hear! The fonts are Papyrus for the labels and Herculanum for the title.
