Default The Continent of Krig – commission

    And one more of these…
This one I actually feel became something a little more special though, mostly because of the client's – the writer Aaron Henderson's – interesting world which inspired me to do something unusual (for me at least) with the color scheme.

It is painted with watercolors and labeled in Photoshop, and the runes in the border were drawn by Aaron and fiddled a little with by me to blend in with the rest.

This is my favorite of these pieces thus far Lingon, fabulous work.

Again the choice of colours is fantastic! Bravo Lingon! May I ask how long you need for the colouring?

Wow, I just love the land shape, it makes me think of a strange animal. Your work on the coloring is very nice, especially for the seas (and I like those purple forests). And the rest is of good quality.

Thanks everyone, glad to hear it!

@Sapiento, usually 2-4 hours… this one was probably closer to 4 because of all the mountains. Painting by hand isn't the fastest method, but I like it Cheers!

The labels really don't fit with the rest of the map. Those hollow black-outline-with-white-interior letters aren't even something you would print over a watercolor-and-ink map, which appears to be the look you're otherwise going for. Otherwise, it looks like something handmade with simple materials... but then suddenly at labeling time, out comes the computer. It doesn't even provide the readability of a glow. I think this map would have been better served with some "hand lettered" labels, whether by a convincing font or actually drawing the labels.
