February/March 2014 Lite Challenge: Chateau Carabas

Hey, I'm just gonna jump right on in to this one. I've decided to map a rather unusual fairy tale, 'Puss in Boots'. Specifcally, the Ogre's castle, which becomes puss' master's castle.

... Who in turn becomes the Marquis of Carabas, presumably because the king is pretty much an idiot who doesn't even know the nobles in his own kingdom.

... Which makes this the Marquis' castle ... which makes it the Chateau Carabas! NYAHAH!

anyways, here's my initial draft:

I think it might need a little size increase for the floor plans on the left (which is what those little rectangles will turn in to), but as per usual it should get give you a nice idea of what i'm aiming for.

Can't wait to see how that border turns out. I'm guessing you're putting some text at the side as well, as those lines indicate?? The sketch looks lovely so far as well, I really like the look of that castle. GOOD LUCK TO YOU

The old Japanese Puss in Boots film was one of my favorites when I was little! Great choice of fairy tale

Saying that, though, seeing something come together step by step is often even better than just seeing the final thing!

EDIT: I'm just wasting valuable time by doing real-life stuff, cleaning my room, and listening to les mis (original cast) when I could be mapping!

Here's a little update, there might-MIGHT-be another one tonight.

Just a little progress on the formatting and basic color... underlaying... or something (I haven't taken an art class in like 6 years :/ ) on the picture. I don't know whether to do the heraldry next or the floor plans, so the next few updates will be a toss up!
