I did this map to pratice making black and white maps with just lines. No brushes or colors, but there is a paper texture on top of the map, just to make it look a little better.
I still need to improve it but this is all I could do for now. I tried to make mountains, rocky plains, sand desert, grass plains, marsh, snow plains, hills, a vulcan, sea/shore/beach, rivers, coniferous forest, snow-covered coniferous forest and decidous forest.
Can someone tell me if I did something good, bad, ugly? (^.^)
I like the sand desert, the rock plains and the shore a little, but I still need a lot of pratice with this technique.
I'll try to make cool brushes when I think I'm good enough with lines.
Thank you in advance.
(edit: forgot to add the picture, and fere is the map

Oh my god, I really did. I'll fix that now.
Thank you, Max.
The trees are pretty. I only have one complaint; I think some of your lines need a bit of sharpening at the end (in my opinion no one should ever leave the tips of a line round, but that's just me).
Thank you, NedS. I must agree with you that round lines don't fit well in artistic maps. I'll fix it in the next iteration, but it may take some time (university take away my free time).
The plains look a little too much like the sea, methinks.
I must say I didn't see that until you said it, thank you. I'll try to find some better way to do it.feanaaro: The plains look a little too much like the sea, methinks.
I like it over all with the exception of your swamp area, which looks messy in contrast to the level of detail you've achieved elswhere. The title makes me chortle a bit.
Thank you for the hint, madcowchef, I did not notice that.
I guess I need to find some better references to draw line maps, can someone point me a tutorial, or a good map or place to start?
I chose that name because it was fun ^^
I reworked the entire map and I got this
I tried with no shadow this time, just to see if it's better or worse (or anything else).
I tried to make some kind of Pantanal (Brazilian wetland) in the middle: Pantanal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and a representation of Brasilian Caatinga in the east: Caatinga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Can someone tell me some advice to improve my technique and style?
Thank you in advance.
