Map Map of the Orion Arm, 2790 C.E. (Pre-War)

Well, after half a year of work and patience (brought about mostly due to the slowness of my computer) here is the first finished version of my Orion Arm project.

On the technical side, the workfile was 9.7 GB in size and consisted of 175 individual layers, a hundred and forty custom- made stars, and a dozen bright and two dark nebulas. The finished full map in .png format is ~44 MB in size. The resolution is more then 3x what you see here.

As for the content, the "Map of the Orion Arm, 2790 C.E. (Pre-War)" displays the known star nations of the year 2790 C.E. (Common Era) as well as the names of regions of space and the names of known (named in the book) star systems.

The SOL SECTOR and OUTER COLONIAL SPHERE merely denominate the extent of these regions! That means, not every star system in the SOL SECTOR will be a) colonized and b) held by one of the three human superpowers.

The OUTER COLONIAL SPHERE's meaning is simply the radius believed to be travelled by human colonial expeditions inside the Orion Arm of the Milky Way galaxy. It does *not* stand for political possession of the area of space and says nothing of the quantity of colonies or the existence of alien life inside this sphere.

This came out very nice. It's so much cleaner than my map - which allows you to show polities well. That's something I had terrible trouble with.
