Default September 2014 challenge: City Icons for wondrous lands

My entry in to the challenge. The biggest challenge was deciding which of the many elements I wanted to work on.
I really enjoy making map elements. I don't use them a lot but love making them.

I decided to make some city icons. I could only use 6 of them but I made more.
I tried to do 6 different types of regional styles.
When I first drew them up I figured they would be used for black and white maps.
I tried them out on a color map and with a bit of tweaking they looked pretty good.
The first image is me using them without adding any color.
The second is a detail image of what can be done with a touch of color.

To do that I set the layer to multiply and the painted on a layer beneath that to add color.

So here's the image and then the zip file. I made small, medium and large icons as png files.
The large were drawn and then the medium were drawn with less detail then scaled down for the small.

Thought I should add - these are free for personal use - not for commercial use. Not to be redistributed or added to other collections and reuploaded or distributed. Any questions - just ask. Enjoy.

Nice icons. The use on the left side map is a bit off though. I'm personnaly not a great fan of mixing hand-drawn lineart with digital effects maps.

Max - I just tried them out on an existing map to see what they'd look like. I understand your position on mixing styles.
Question - you said the left side map looks off. What about the right side images?
