    Default Need non-fantasy map

Hi. I am a published historical fiction author, and because the cartographer I have hired in the past is not available, I am looking for someone to do a map for me. It will be of 15th century Perth, Scotland. I will pay up to $150 for the job via Paypal, half in advance. I do prefer that you have references.

There are no detailed maps of Perth in that period but I have various references and information which I will make available. The street layout of Perth has changed surprisingly little since the middle ages but almost all the medieval buildings were destroyed during the Reformation so modern maps are of some but limited use.

I'll check back if you will post if interested since I am not able to receive DMs. Thanks!

Do you have an image showing the style of map you want, perhaps from one of your other novels? Can you find something in the Gallery here that looks at all like what you are envisioning? Line map, angle view map, artistic map, street map, building map, etc. That would help people who might be interested but not sure if they can or want to do it.

I may be interested in this project, but would like some more details. Like the style (with example) and size. Maybe a deadline. Here are some of my maps. PM me the details or just post them here

I'm interested as well, you can see my stuff here. I can do most styles, that's what i'm proud of, and make sure to look at the recent threads I've made as well, as I only put finished stuff on my deviant-art.
Whenever you next post something (You're at 4 posts right now, you can at 5) you can private message and we can private message you.

To tell you the truth, I've gone back and forth on what would work best as far as style, and it doesn't help that I know damn-all about cartography. You really can't go by my past maps which were regional maps rather than city maps.

I was thinking of something possibly along the lines of the map in this Jeri Westerson novel (which you can see if you look at the preview) although there would be fewer streets. Cup of Blood: A Medieval Noir: A Crispin Guest Medieval Noir Prequel - Kindle edition by Jeri Westerson. Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Kindle eBooks @ Amazon.com.

However (just to be indecisive) I have also considered going with something artistic like this but I want the main streets of Perth to show so I'm not sure that would work. I try not to ask for something that's impossible. http://www.electricscotland.com/hist...th/index.9.jpg

By the time this survey was done the city walls and most of the buildings had been destroyed but most of the street layout remained the same (except for the location of the bridge over the Tay). Plan of the City of Perth from actual survey. - Maps of Scotland

I need to check the size I'll need. It will be in both the ebook and print version and I try to see that my maps are easily readable in both. I would like the map by the 21st of October if at all possible.

Hopefully that gives a better idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks!

Since you should be able to PM me now, I would be happy to discuss this further in PMs to give more details if this looks like something you might be interested in working on. Thanks again.

I want to thank the people who sent me responses. I have found someone to do this project for me, but I may well have other projects in the coming year. Therefore, I may check back in the future.

Thanks for the friendly reception and all the best.
