Ah well, time flies, doesn't it? Got many changes going on in my life atm, but I hope I'll get back to working regualyrly on my project soon. And hopefully finding the time to catch up on all the stuff that's happening here...
I found some time to draw a bit, though, and I changed my method a little bit. The workflow feels right and I like the outcome. I continue to use individual mountains and ranges. Have a look:

Could cram in a bit of mapping time. Did some detail work on the image above:

THis is going to become a local map:

I really enjoy this style.
Nice work on that last one! Very convincing.
Thanks a lot Diamond, "convincing" might be the greatest compliment I ever got!
So I couldn't sleep, and why not draw a crapload of mountains, then...
The whole continent this time, with all the above in it:

I really like the way you do your forests on this! It fits very well with the rest of the map.
Thaks Ilanthar, it's actually my old brush that I scaled down quite a bit.
Here's a little progress:
Skahria-2_0-V6.jpg
- started fleshing out the mountain range to the north east
- added a little more colored landscaped
- added a heavily forested midrange mountainus area
- started experimenting with slight color adjustments in the general background
Cheers,

You're welcome! It works really well. I'm curious, what do you plan to place in the bottom? The Key? It's a big empty space.
Exactly. That's where I want to put the key and maybe some explanatory stuff. If I can advance my skills maybe some artsy decorative stuff.
I am taking my time with this and might very possibly deviate from it to do some local maps, as I'm trying to write a story in this world (no surprise), but after a few months of working with this style I'll cautiosly say that I'm very comfortable with it and am not going to change it again! Probably!
Update soon to come.
