Thread: Software for making a ship deck plan?

Default Software for making a ship deck plan?

For a Pathfinder game (Skulls and Shackles) I'm interested in customizing the layout of a ship. Mostly, I'd like to make a birdseye deck plan of each deck. I know Campaign Cartographer has this capability, but I'd prefer a free option if it exists. What options are out there?

Or if you're already familiar with graphic design software (Photoshop and the like) you could try out Inkscape, which is a free open-source vector editor with capabilities similar to Adobe Illustrator.

Minimal design software experience for me. I did become decently familiar with Campaign Cartographer, but I my friend that had it moved away. It looks like the biggest limitation for me will be finding appropriate art to import into whichever program I ultimately choose. I'm working my way through all the current suggestions to try them out, and unsurprisingly none are equipped out of the box to with cannons, a ship's wheel, and so forth. Since they'll all probably be more or less equal in terms of supplied stock art, I'll probably end up picking which one allows me to lay down the hull of the ship most easily.

Since you're already familiar with CC, then the CAD suggestions are probably best, since Campaign Cartographer is built on FastCAD. Check out the Dundjinni user forums for elements, or the CSUAC if you can find it. I can't remember what that initialism stands for, but it's a huge collection of elements from the Dundjinni forums with a liberal license for reuse.
