    Default The Waste Land

Another map started months ago and finished recently. This started out as a commission, which went uncompleted for a long time after the client decided he couldn't afford the agreed-upon price. Eventually I went back and added my own cultures and nations (with a lot of name-recycling, as per usual for me). I'd envisioned this as a barren land, possibly Mars or another planet where the terraforming is failing, leaving behind vast deserts and dying seas.

    Credits:
    Background parchment: Torstan
City Icons: national symbols from the game Total War. (Obviously not wanted by the client originally, but I wanted something fancy.)
Fonts: Optimus Princeps (title), SPQR (nation names), Kaligraf Latin (natural features, seas), and Roman Antique (city names)

Note: The original of this is huge (2 feet by 1.5 feet). I couldn't upload it at full size; this is about 25% of normal. I've included a 50% size piece below so you can see the coastlines and mountains a little better.

Sorry to hear your client backed out on you. The map came out great, love the colors.

You could still post a much higher resolution than this. It is only 1.1 MB. Just guessing, but I think you could get the full 2 ft x 1.5 ft at 200 dpi and come in under the 4 MB limit. 150 dpi would make it for sure. Especially if you use a jpg compression between medium and high.

    Same here.

The map looks great. Like Bogie said, the color scheme looks very nice and I especially like the reliefs and the colored icons.

Great map anyway, the mountains are truly awesome! I'm glad you finished it. And as you know, I'm quite fond of your good old names .

I flat out love that map. I'm not in love with the icons, but everything else is excellent. Might have to contact you about what you charge for maps, LOL.

Rough that the client backed out, but an excellent map. Top notch work.

Sorry to here about your client. I've had one or two of those myself, but unlike you I tend to lose motivation to finish the piece afterwards. The map is lovely though! Well turns out that after months of inactivity I still can't rep you, yet.

    Cheers,
