Last teeny tiny point of contention: could you change the white outline of the labels to the main background colour? White specks on a textured background alwqys stand out a little too much.

But beside that, I'd say you nailed it. This is exactly the kind of map I like to see for fantasy novels and such.

And Freodin, that's a good point. I originally used the background color for the glow, but it faded into almost total invisibility--which is why I switched to white. I'll play around--maybe a slightly tinted glow but not exactly matching the background will do the trick.
