    Wip WIP: Vallerani

This is Vallerani, the background for a fantasy series I'm working on. It is an independent city that sits between three kingdoms, so intrigue is the order of the day.

I'm looking for feedback on several things, particularly with scale. I'm thinking the population would be around 35,000 for the entire area, but I'm not sure if I've got it right.

Thoughts from the group are appreciated.

Hello Dalanard, welcome to the Guild!

That's a very nice map for a first post. You are obviously not a newcomer to cartography How about telling us something about yourself in the Members Intro thread? What kind of mapping have you been doing?

Have some rep for an awesome first post!

Very nice map indeed! The only thing that bothered me is that the buildings edges looks pixellated. It could be corrected with an anti-aliases option or a slight blur I think.

Great map Dalanard. Scale looks good. I like the tree lined fields. Very Nice.
It would take too long for me to determine if the building quantity is sufficient for 35000 people.
But it's a very nice solid map and a great first post.
    Cheers

Thanks! I agree about the pixillation. I prefer working in b/w without aliasing, so I should have added a slight blur to "take the edge off."

Very nice map. Perhaps a more muted/less saturated blue for the river would work better with the b/w look of the rest.
The inhabited area looks around 1km^2, thus 35k would be pushing it. Not impossible, but very very dense. Considering that the buildings are not all close together and that there are some empty spaces even inside the walls, I'd say it looks more like ~15k to me.
