I love the simplicity..Colors work well together
Hello everyone,
This is the first map I've ever drawn, and I'm fairly pleased with it. This will act as the regional map of the deserted island that will be the setting for my next Pathfinder campaign. The party will be leading an expedition to explore this unknown island, so a lot of the details on the map were purposefully lent vague - e.g., the lack of rivers.
Map Final 2.jpg
The geology is absolute nonsense, but follows my own internal logic: the island, the party will discover, is actually the shell of a long dead creature. The mountains and cliffs follow a pseudo-spiral pattern before opening up at the south-western bay, the pattern trying to subtly evoke the image of a nautilus.
I chose pretty muted colors to give the map both an aged feeling, and a somewhat unsettling atmosphere. The campaign will be part lovecraftian horror, so it's only appropriate that the ocean is gray and the forests dark.
I posted another version of this in the regional maps forum last night. After receiving some advice, I returned to the image today to do some (really minor, in retrospect) clean up of the shading and to edit the lines and their thicknesses. I'm new to this website, so I hope posting this only slightly altered final version here isn't a social faux pas.
I'll be drawing some more small-scale maps for this campaign as the summer goes on, so any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated!

A really nice job, and congrats on a fine first map! I hope we'll see many more
Looks great. I love the colours you've chosen and the forest shading is really nice. Well done!
