Hi Guys,
My name is Tyler and I have an education in Geography and Geographic Information Systems. I love cartography and since I am not currently working in my field I have been searching for some kind of creative outlet. I have just started GameMastering a Pathfinder campaign and have had so much fun hand drawing all the maps from the books. I am looking to expand my abilities in cartography and also world building.
I am currently working on a project that I hope will one day be a full campaign setting.
I hope to learn a lot from you guys!
-Tyler

Welcome to the Guild Tyler. I think there are a handful of others here in your line of work as well. The tutorials are a good place to pick up techniques for the more artistic side of mapping. Look forward to seeing your work.

Hello Tyler, Welcome to the Guild!
There is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276
From there, go to Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655
Once you have completed those two tutorials, you'll be well on your way!!
Thanks for the info. I have read through those tutorials. When I am ready to transition to digital mapping I will definitely look into it. What I am doing right now is hand drawing and hand colouring. It is much more fun for weekly campaigns. I'm hoping to develop those artistic skills.
When I move to digital I will probably be making things with ArcGIS to showcase some of those skills. That will be when I'm doing multiple projections of places and zooming to regions at different scales.
I'm posting some work in progress here:
